Europe & Asia – Days 20-21
Adeus to Portugal
Cascais, Portugal Lisbon, Portugal

We found some time to relax on the beach to see out our final days in Portugal.

After our massive day in Sintra, we needed a rest day so decided to take it easy and relax. We had a bit of washing admin to catch up on and had our first experience of hanging washing on the side of a building! I was in constant fear the whole time of dropping the washing four stories - Sam unfortunately did and now has one less sock.

We had a really nice breakfast out and on the way back, passed by a park with a book fair. Unfortunately I was feeling a bit out of sorts (possible heat stroke) so we mainly stayed at the Airbnb for the day, only sneaking out when it cooled down for a sushi dinner!

For our last day, we headed out of the city again to the quaint seaside town of Cascais. It had lovely vacation vibes! We had a burger for lunch and went for a walk around the boardwalk before setting up on the beach. The sea was freezing! It’s the Atlantic Ocean so we could only manage a quick dip at a time!

On the way back we had planned to stop at the Monastery and the Belem Tower. We could see the Belem Tower from the train and decided it didn’t look that interesting. We also couldn’t be bothered with the Monastery as we were pretty tired after our day at the beach. So we headed back to the Airbnb to freshen up before heading out for a final dinner of pizza and sangria!

We were close to the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara viewpoint so popped up for one final look at Lisbon and one final ride on the funicular before heading back to the Airbnb to pack our bags. I really loved Lisbon - so far this has been my favourite place! Will definitely be back to explore more of Portugal in the future! Next stop 🇪🇸
